Designed by Adam Dettrick Architects, one of the main design ideas was to explore ideas of craft.
The form is modern and rectilinear, with hard lines softened by recycled brick.
Internally the timber ceilings show care and precision with their expressed joints, whilst adding warmth to the space.
Sustainability and energy efficiency were important for this home.
All living areas and bedrooms face north, and raked ceilings reach up to maximise winter sun penetration, whilst good shading keeps the summer sun out.
Windows are double glazed with thermally broken frames, and bricks are used internally to increase thermal mass.
The home has been also designed with accessibility in mind.
Step-less access from the street, wide hallways and doors, and bathrooms with the right circulation spaces.
