Without an expert eye behind the lens, there would be no Urban Angles. In the second installment of our ‘Meet Our Photographers’ series, it’s Mat Moore, answering our questions and sharing some of his favourite shots.
How did you get into photography?
“I got into photography from my eldest brother. Seeing photos he had taken while away camping adventures or hanging out with his friends.“
What excites you about photography?
“The unknown, The adventure, gaining access to areas otherwise restricted is what excites me about photography. Observing light and capturing situations that can generally pass unnoticed by people without the same type of interest. How a subject can take on 2 totally different personalities, all due to a change in light either subtly or drastically.“
What type of equipment do you prefer to use?
“Canon gear from early on till now, but looking towards a change to Sony.”
Which style of photography do you prefer and who is your favourite photographer?
“Travel, Reportage, Street and Architectural Photography are my favourite styles of photography with a strong influence from Shape, line, form and repetition. Eugene Richards, Sebastiao Salgado, James Nachtwey, Steve McCurry and Tim Griffiths being photographers I admire.”
Who inspires you when it comes to photography?
“My brother initially, One of my lecturers Guy Little while studying photography, Mark Munro who I used to assist early in my career and also the many people I have worked alongside over the last 15 years.”
